Design Process
We believe that to provide a bespoke service our most valued tool is continuous communication. All our work begins with an informal conversation, allowing us to obtain a deeper understanding of each project or product. It is this approach that allows us to deliver over and above expectation.
1. Generating Ideas
We begin the design process with an initial consultation, where we discuss ideas, budget and time-scale. This can take the form of a home visit or email and phone conversation, which should be supplemented with design inspiration, measurements and the intended location.
2. Design
After the initial discussion and finalisation of ideas and budget, we will begin to visualise your design and produce a 3D computer design with construction and material choices, and budget ranges. Throughout this process, we offer our expertise and knowledge to influence the result.
3. Production & Installation
After signing-off the design, we begin the production process. Throughout this time, we are available to discuss any final details and provide progress updates. Once completed, we then deliver and install or fit your piece, at your convenience.
Making Process
Our furniture is handmade using high quality, durable materials and construction techniques that not only look good but last a lifetime.
1. Painted furniture construction
Even though painted surfaces hide how something is made, material choice and construction are the key to longevity. We use a combination of solid wood and plywood or moisture-resistant (green) MDF for large expansive areas. All leading edges are faced with between 10mm and 15mm solid wood to provide a durable, high quality finish.
2. Ply construction
Our plywood furniture is made from sustainably sourced birch, which is an incredibly strong and durable material. Plywood is a perfect material for contemporary, design lead furniture. It can be painted in a large range of colours leaving the edge visible to give it a modernistic feel. A perfect compliment to Mid 20th Century furniture.
3. Lighting & PowerPoints
Lighting and power points can be integrated into your design/furniture. We recommend LED lighting, controlled by a dimmer switch as it uses very little energy and requires minimal maintenance.
